The Trial (1925)

A bewildered bank clerk is abruptly arrested and forced to navigate an absurd, nightmarish legal maze, desperately trying to defend himself against an entirely unseen and unknown crime. Published after Kafka's death, it has come to define the word Kafkaesque.
