Christmas Gifts for Kids Who Love Books

Why a book print makes a good Christmas present for young readers

Children who love stories often love the books themselves just as much as what happens inside them, the well-thumbed cover, the world they can picture in their heads. A poster of a favourite title brings that world into their room in a way that lasts far longer than most Christmas presents, and it works for every age from picture-book fans to teenagers deep into classic adventures.

How to choose the right title

Start with what they are reading now, or what they loved a year or two ago. The Magician's Nephew and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader suit young Narnia fans who like magic and big adventures, while The Little Prince is a lovely choice for a thoughtful child, or for a grown-up who first read it years ago. Roald Dahl fans are easy to please with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The BFG or The Twits, and Anne of Green Gables makes a gentle gift for a reader who prefers friendship and countryside stories over dragons. For older children who like a proper shiver, Goosebumps and The Halloween Tree are firm favourites.

Size, frame and style tips for a child's room

An A5 or A4 print suits a shelf or a small wall space, while an A3 or A2 print makes more of a statement above a bed or desk. Our pine wood frames arrive ready to hang in a wood, black or white finish, so there is no need to sort out framing after Christmas, and the Minimalist or Blurby styles tend to work well in a child's bedroom without feeling too grown-up. If you are choosing for a nursery or reading nook, a lighter frame finish often suits pastel decor, while black frames give a bolder, more modern look for an older child's room.
