The Dark Tower (1982)
Stephen King's The Dark Tower brings Roland Deschain's long quest to its conclusion. As the ka-tet closes in on the Tower itself, they face their final and deadliest trials, with the fate of every world hanging on the outcome. It is the culmination of one of modern fantasy's most ambitious sagas.
The Silmarillion (1977)
J.R.R. Tolkien's The Silmarillion takes readers back to the First Age of Middle-earth, telling of the world's creation, the theft of the Silmarils and the great war fought by Elves and Men against the dark lord Morgoth. Published after Tolkien's death, it remains the mythological bedrock beneath The Lord of the Rings.
